Cocktail Sauce
I use cocktail sauce for a lot of things other than a companion for shrimp. It makes a great accompaniment for so many kinds of seafood. And since it contains horseradish, it can brighten up a steak or even a roast! There is only four ingredients so it can't get much simpler to make.
Ingredients
• ¾ cup chili sauce
• 3 Tbsp lemon juice
• 1 tsp. prepared horseradish
• ¾ tsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl; cover tightly and chill. Makes about 1 cup.
Options
• Add a ½ teaspoon hot sauce for more zip!
• If you like horseradish, add more!

Recipes are like stories; they can change from person to person. Everyone has their idea of how a recipe should be, even
though it may have changed from the original. We will never know the true author of the original recipe, regardless of
what some may say. That's why I go back and look through the oldest cookbooks that I can find. Sometimes it's not the
recipe in the books that I find, but the tiny pieces of handwritten recipes and newspaper articles that are stuck within
the pages. That's where the real story is, finding those simple Southern recipes. -Mac
